so, i MOVED TO nEW York

Yup, you read that correctly. I finally moved to New York. And I say finally bc it’s been a goal of mine for about two years now. For those who may not know, I went to college in Washington, DC and always knew I was going to move to New York, but it was just a matter of time. NOTE TO SELF: All good things takes time. Nonetheless, I’ve been here for a little over a week and thought I’d share a few things I’ve quickly learned since relocating.

  1. Wherever you go, whatever you do, stay ready. Nothing more, nothing less.

  2. Pack everything. And. I. Literally. Mean. EVERYTHING. Running errands? Cool! Just make sure you’ve got water, snacks, a rechargeable battery, an umbrella and a change of clothes AND shoes just in case something pops off. Why? Because we stay ready!

  3. Buy a cart. Like, yesterday! I knew it was “a thing” to have one of those metal carts that holds groceries, packages, etc, but didn’t realize just HOW crucial it was until I found myself on a 30-minute walk carrying 3 heavy bags with a slightly-injured shoulder. The following day, I made my way to my new favorite dollar store -that’s not REALLY a dollar store- and dropped $60 on a brand new cart. Best money spent yet.

  4. You will get lost. Accept it.

  5. Patience really is a virtue. I’ve been working on having more patience across the board in my life but it’s something I’ve had to remind myself of even more while adjusting to a new city. I can’t begin to tell you the mission I was on the other day simply trying to return a few Amazon packages and because I have yet to buy a printer, the hassle of trying to find somewhere to print was literally insane. However, I give myself props myself because though I was annoyed, I remained calm and yes, patient and simply revised the plan.

LESSON: Life will often force you revise the plan. Just go with it.

  6. It’s ok to treat yourself to a vanilla chai latte from Dunkin Donuts if you feel like you need a moment because listen, we all need a moment.

The list could go on but for now, I’ll stop here. Be sure to follow along on IG as I’ll continue to share bits-and-pieces of this new life in New York.

It’s the last day of summer 2019 and as sad as I am to have to pack away this Reformation dress, I couldn’t be more excited for fall fashion. Stay tuned.

Shorts | thrifted. Shoes | similar style here. Hat | Lack of Color. Sunnies. Bag.

Tonal looks have become a major source of inspiration for my fall wardrobe but since it’s still pretty hot here in Cali, I thought I’d create a look featuring some of my go-to summer pieces. Enjoy!

If you follow me on IG or have seen me in “real life” then it should come of no surprise that I’ve been really into dad sandals. What started out as something I didn’t think I could pull off has quickly become an obsession so much so that these were practically the only shoes I wore while in New York.

They’re definitely not everyone’s cup of tea but for me, they’re all I could ask for in a shoe. They’re comfortable, give me a little extra height, pair well with practically everything and most importantly, were scored at 75% off.

And though summer is coming to an end, you can rest assured this will be making their way back into my life next s/s season.

Yellow Eyelet Dress

How we’re already at the end of July is beyond me but here in the Bay, the weather is just now starting to heat up. I’ve been on a major dress craze as of late and this yellow eyelet number from H&M is hands-down one of my favorites. It’s perfect for the warmer weather but can also be worn with mules and sneakers come fall.

And while speaking of crazes, my headband collection is growing by the minute. I have five at the moment and who’s to say that won’t double come fall. -Covers face in shame.- The one I’m wearing is a $6 buy from Amazon which is an awesome balance to the Prada one I got my hands on which was nearly $300. Needless to say, headbands have quickly become my thing and will undoubtably make more appearances on the blog.
